Access to CCD Infrastructure

In what regards the access to the CDD infrastructure, two types of users (which are treated similarly from a scientific point of view) are defined: users from the National Scientific and Technological System (NSTS) and External Users. The former includes users of the NSTS, namely individual researchers, Research Groups or Research Units, who wish to request access and usage time of the equipment or services available at the CCD infrastructure. The latter comprehends independent artists and researchers, other institutions and entities, start-ups and any business or company.

Definition of Usage Times

The access to the infrastructure will be allocated according to the rule "first come, first served". Session times will be booked on a monthly basis and adjustments will be made depending on the variations of activity. Researchers who book a permanent slot will be responsible for its payment, whether they use it or not. The time of use of the CCD equipment will be assigned according to the following criteria:

  • 50% for the host Institution of the equipment;
  • 30% for the other institutions that integrate the NSTS;
  • 20% for services to external companies and institutions.

Cost of using the CCD infrastructure

The support team should include, at least, a PhD (with experience in the use of the equipment) and a research technician to provide services of quality, including the general maintenance of the equipment to ensure its normal operation and the scientific and technical support. The essential maintenance and repair of these equipments should be ensured by maintenance contracts with the suppliers of the equipment (or an authorized representative) and the costs should be included in the operational costs.
The price for the users who belong to institutions that integrate the NSTS will be calculated based on the actual cost and will be updated annually, taking into account the possibility of external funding, in particular of the FCT/MCTES.
The CCD shall set the operational costs to be charged to external users according to market prices, in order to operate by market and competition laws, becoming revenues of the CCD. The CCD will determine the technical administrative procedures to adopt for their collection. The funds resulting from the payments by external users are intended primarily to support costs of operation, maintenance and replacement of equipment.

The table of prices for each service provided by the CCD is available on request.
